Bleed is a printing term that is used to describe when a document has images or elements that extend to the edge of the printed page. No printer can print right to the edge of the paper, so for this to be achieved the graphic edge must extend beyond the trim edge. You document must be printed on a paper larger than the intended size and trimmed to size. This will avoid any white edge around your document.
It is recommended that you don’t place any type within 1/4″ (0.25″) of the edge of the document and your bleed must extend to 1/8″ beyond the size of your document.
